Kermode & Mayo's Extra Takes (2022-05-26 and 2022-05-29)
Because each episode of Take Two is mostly just an extension of the preceding Take, from now on I’ll take notes both weekly episodes together at once.
Men (2022). Sounds exactly my kind of film.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie (2022). I find the TV show reasonably entertaining and the film sounds like an extended episode; if so, that’s fine by me.
Unforgotten (2015). Curious: I recall watching half of the first episode many years ago and being so nonplussed that it dropped off my radar completely. But apparently it’s a massive hit four seasons later. Perhaps it’s time to revisit.
Stray observations:
The foray into ‘film-adjacent television’ continues to not work and frustrate me. Mark knows little about the genre and reviews things based on a few episodes, which is feels like reviewing just the first few chapters of a novel.
I refuse to care about the FOTW no matter how many times I’m told that Tom Cruise works hard and doesn’t look his age.
Extended discussion of Stranger Things. The first season is very enjoyable purely for the nostalgia factor, but plot-wise, I found it baggy, underwhelming, and a little silly. (The kid that goes missing for most of the season seemingly survives by hiding under a rock for like a month.) I gave up on it early on in the second season. This final season sounds completely nuts.
